Daylight Savings Ends Tonight - Better Light Up

Hey slackers! Daylight savings time ends at 2AM and standard time begins, which means you get another hour before last-call and then you get to sleep noon and still get another hour of morning, which you can use to sleep in until noon.

But it also means your commute home Monday is gonna have a lot less sunshine add winter to the mix and visibility is lower than it was on the dance floor Sunday Morning.

If you are driving, remember to drive the below than the speed limit and less as conditions warrant. Because you have muchless time to react to cyclists and pedestrians especially those who are camouflaged by the night. And don't forget if you hit somebody you are strongly discouraged from just driving away. Unless you like prison.

But worse than prison is being on the wrong side of the front grill of a Caddilacescalade being driving by a senile Chinese woman who just learned to text.
Send hate mail here.

Reflective clothing and lights help increase your visibility from 50 ft to more than 10x that amount. And that gives her almost enough time to find the send button.

Yesterday, I headed down to thebe safe be seen public education event and fashion show. It was a great reminder that as long as our roads are designed first and foremost for motor-carriages you might as well make yourself visible from airplanes AND that 72' trans am with broken wipers and cracked windshield.

Seriously, though, cycling and walking through the winter can be super satisfying if you are ready with the right gear. It blows away the winter blues, forces to embrace the season and get outside and circulate. Plus you get to impress all your friends at work and of course reduce the amount of money you give tothe 1%ers.

Showers Pass - Bicycle Hydration System

www.showerspass.com In the informational video Mark Proia introduces the VelEau 42. It's a brand new way to carry water on your bicycle. Available July, 2011. Available for presale May, 2011. MSRP $79.99. ----- What if you could double your bike's water carrying capacity for those longer rides? Or what if you don't feel comfortable reaching down for a water bottle while hammering in a paceline? We've all been there. No one wants to hit the pavement because one rider in the group is looking down or fumbling for their water bottle. Races have been lost and riders have been injured by jettisoned water bottles. NO BOTTLE CAGE - NO PROBLEM! Many new full-suspension mountain bikes smooth out the bumps and save our backs but all that suspension hardware takes up space that was formerly occupied by bottle cage mounts. VelEau™ was invented by an engineer&cyclist who was preparing for the grueling 100 mile Cascade Creampuff MTB race -- in the middle of July. With only 1 bottle cage mount on his Ibis Mojo, he had the option of wearing a hot, restrictive hydration backpack for the 10+ hour ride or coming up with something better. Safe, Easy Access We designed VelEau with two patent-pending retractable magnetic reels that allow the rider to safely and easily access the bite valve. The reels use a tough 3-ply nylon parachute cord tested to over 180000 cycles and two strong magnets to keep the tube from flopping around. Pull. Drink. Replace. It's that simple! The All-in-One Solution...

Cyclists Don't Lose Your Rear Blinky

http://www.crankmychain.com Nothing says Don't Tread On Me like a nice rear blinking taillight. But a popular design, though bright, efficient, and economical, has a major flaw. They business side falls off too easily leaving you with just the clip (and that part ain't worth much). This video shows you how to use a small piece of black electrical tape so your blinkly won't fall off so easily.Good luck and please send me any videos you've made with practical suggestions and I'll post them on CrankMyChain!
Brooker's Powder Coating

Portland, Ore. - Pinky Gets a Powder Coat is a short documentary/infomercial about how my sister got her tired looking bike repainted. Actually, the frame and fork were powder coated -- a different process than painting -- which involves baking a very durable plastic-like coating onto steel, aluminum, and other metals. Powder coating has become very popular option for giving new life to motorcycles, bicycles, car parts and other metal items like lawn furniture. Brooker Enterprises ...
