Seattle DJ BJ Shea hates bikes. In fact, he doesn't think they should be on the road at all. On the same day he was spewing hit typical hatred for cyclists to rush hour motorists, a bike commuter was shot by a driver with a pellet gun on his way to work. Is it a coincidence? We don't think so. Shea opens his phone lines to all callers every Friday from 6-10 AM PST. Call BJ at 206-421-7625 and let him know what you think about bikes and his uneducated viewpoints. Ask him if he thinks any of his listeners are frustrated and unstable motorists. Ask BJ if he'd like to encourage those listeners to shoot people who ride bikes. Let him know that's what happened to a cyclist the exact same day he went on one of his anti bike rider rants. You could ask BJ to look out the window next time he is in a traffic jam and report back what kind of vehicle he's stuck behind. (It won't be a bike) You could point out the fact that people who ride bikes do, if fact, own the road. Most roads and streets in Seattle are public right-of-way. Then follow up by asking BJ when, exactly, did motorcar drivers purchased the exclusive use of said right-of-way at the expense and safety of all others. Answer: They never did. In fact, the motoring public did not and do not cover the costs for all the special treatments and subsidies they receive for their privilege of driving.
